In December 2015, ZEIT journalist Henning Sußebach and his family hosted Amir Baitar, a Syrian student who fled the war in his home country, in their family home for 6 months. Amir and Henning wrote a book about their experiences: about the diverse challenges, but foremost about the familiarity that arises when two very different cultures engage with each other. We are looking forward to a live reading by the two authors! (Please note: the reading will be in German.)
In addition, Ali Shibly‘s band will make the evening more melodic with their broad repertory ranging from classical music to pop music to traditional folk music of various countries and cultures.
After the reading, vegan Syrian food by Olivegan will be served for everyone’s enjoyment.
